It’s been a little while since we’ve been in touch regarding a Kickstarter-specific topic, but we have important news regarding your data and our ability to fulfil any outstanding rewards. We processed fulfilment of all Kickstarter pledges in February 2016, but if for some reason you never received your rewards then please read on.
What’s Happening
As you may be aware, on May 25 the EU introduced new data protection legislation known as the General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR. This legislation affects how companies which operate within the EU collect, store and manage data regarding individuals.
“Not another one of those blasted emails!” – Everyone in Europe.
As an EU-based company we are subject to this legislation, which means we’ve had to make a number of changes to our policies. Over the last few months we’ve been updating our game, websites and other platforms to ensure they are compliant with this new law.
A few weeks ago, like nearly every other company ever, we also updated the WFTO EULA and our Privacy Policy in accordance with GDPR; if you would like to know more please click here.
In order to completely comply with the new regulations, we are obligated to safely dispose of any data regarding individuals that we are not making active use of nor will have a use for in the future.
What This Means for You
For years we have maintained records regarding all our Kickstarter backers pledges and their fulfilment status. These records have always been safely stored in accordance with existing data protection regulations; but as we have not made active use of them and we cannot define a good reason to retain them, we are now required to destroy this data within a reasonable timeframe.
In accordance with this requirement, we have decided that we will destroy all data which we hold about our Kickstarter supporters, on the September 1st, 2018.
After this date we will no longer be able to assist backers with regards to their Kickstarter rewards.
We’re always eager to help, so if for some reason you still need support regarding your Kickstarter rewards, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly via [email protected]. Emailing us like this is the most efficient way to receive support, as it will enter our support queue directly which is reviewed daily.
You can also send us a message on Kickstarter, but sometimes there can be a delay in our response. We would advise if your query is urgent to email us direct.
So once again: After September 1st we will not be able to assist with Kickstarter rewards; if you need support email us at [email protected]. Beyond this date, we won’t be able to offer help related to reward fulfilment.
