1) What’s going on?
Subterranean Games have teamed up with Sold Out Sales & Marketing to produce and distribute a physical version of the War for the Overworld Underlord Edition. See our announcement here and the press release here.

2) Why have you sold out to a giant evil publisher?
Fuel for our gold yachts doesn’t buy itself.

But seriously, because it was a bit of a no-brainer. Nobody is selling out to anyone (but there is plenty of evil involved…). As you will see with the answers to the questions below, there aren’t any any downsides for anyone involved, but there are many upsides for our fans – especially those of you who like boxed copies!

3) But why Sold Out specifically?
They were the right partner for the job. They are a UK-based, mid-level publisher, who some call industry experts in the PC and console sectors. They just help us get our game to a wider audience.  If you have anything to ask them, they will be hanging around this thread on our forums for the next few days to answer any questions you may have. 4) How much control does Sold Out have over the game? Are they making any changes?
Zero control. The game and company are still 100% ours, Sold Out are simply working with us to distribute the physical release and assist us with marketing the game. Digital distribution is still being handled entirely by us.
As for changes to the game, there’s just one: Localization!

5) So WFTO is being localised now?
Yes! Sold Out are going to be assisting us with translating the game into French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian & Polish. This will also carry over into the digital release of the game.

6) Where will the physical release be available be available?
Most EU territories (including the UK, Germany, and many others), Eastern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. We may release in other regions at a later date.

7) How much will it cost?
The RRP in the UK for the Underlord Edition is £29.99, other territories & currencies TBD.

8) When will it be available?
February 2015, the same day as the final digital release (exact date TBD).

9) Where can I buy it?
It’ll be available from most major retailers in the regions listed above, including Amazon.co.uk and Game in the UK and Amazon.de in Germany.

9) What will it include?
The boxed copy of the Underlord Edition will include:

• Install disk, a Steam key, and a pretty box
• Digital copy of the Soundtrack & Dungeoneer’s guide to the Underworld
• Access to the Sovereign Dungeon Theme
• Access to the Arcane Fortress Dungeon Theme

10) What’s this about themes? Do I miss out on them if I purchased online?
Good news! All of our backers and everyone who purchases WFTO through Steam or Humble* before launch will also get access the Arcane Fortress theme. On top of that, we’ll be making these themes available to purchase a few months after release for anyone that missed out.

Anyone who purchases the physical or digital Underlord Edition will have access to the Sovereign theme (along with all Kickstarter backers at Tier 4 or above). If you purchased the standard edition digitally, we will offer an optional upgrade to the Underlord Edition via Steam in the near future.

TL;DR:

• Anyone who purchases the game online before launch gets the Arcane Fortress theme
• Anyone who purchases the Underlord Edition (physical or digital) gets the Sovereign theme
• Physical Underlord Edition contains both themes no matter when you purchase it

*If we decide to work with other digital distributors before launch they will most likely also have the theme – we will specify at the time if this is the case.

11) Will the boxed copy require Steam?
Yes, the boxed copy is a Steamworks enabled copy of the game and requires a Steam account and internet connection to activate.

12)  If I already purchased the game online, do I get a boxed copy?
No, unfortunately this would be highly impractical for us to offer.

13) I’m a Kickstarter backer who pledged for a physical copy of the game, what does this mean for me?
You’ll be getting a boxed copy of the Underlord Edition at launch along with the key we already sent you, which means you’ll get an extra game key to give to a friend!

14) I’m a retailer, who do I contact about distributing the game?
